An Invitation From Multiply

The Multiply marketing team came to Bacolod City last August 31, 2012 to meet with bloggers and merchants alike. This is in line with their transformation from a social networking site to e-commerce.   I already knew from e-mails and other blogs that the Jakarta based (formerly Florida, USA until early 2012) company will now be focusing purely on e-commerce effective December 1, 2012.  When I first heard about it, I was a little sad but after this meeting, I understood the reasons and merits of the change. Those of us with a Multiply account need not fear that our photos, videos and blog posts will be lost  because the Multiply team will inform and guide all their members with what to do with these.  We then have an option to close our account or transform it into an online shop. I chose to close it down but at the same time I opened not one but two online shops.  Of course, I did not really know what to do with them until I attended this session with the Multiply marketing group.

Their Marketing Head, Ms. Rianna Roces-Trinidad, talked about her own experience and success as a Multiply seller.  Suddenly, online selling seemed so simple and easy. With Multiply, sellers can open an online shop in less than 20 minutes and the company takes care of everything from marketing and shipping to payment.  The company provides different payment options for buyers from credit cards, paypal or bank transfers and sellers can get the payment of goods sold within 24 hours. Shipping as well will no longer be a problem since accredited couriers will pick up your goods from your shop or home.  All these services are already integrated into your e-commerce site. They also offer a trusted seller badge for a minimal one-time fee of P2,999, wherein you become a Multiply verified seller, giving your buyers added protection. Once verified, your products will also get priority placement on the Multiply Marketplace homepage.  Wow, stress-free online selling and shopping!

Here are the links to my two Multiply shops. Both sites are still under development and will be open to business by December 2012.

  1. Hi Maritel! First, I hope you don't mind addressing you by your first name. Of course, I'll always keep in touch (you're in my blogroll for a long time.)
Sure, let's be friends in FB. Look for Beng Gee.

About this Multiply E-commerce, it sounds interesting. I hope I can join in there one of these days.

  2. This is really timely, as Summer would like to open a online shop and that takes our worries about payment and shipping stuff. Thanks for sharing.

  6. I closed my multiply account maybe for more than 3 years now and concentrated on flickr for my photos and FB for social networking. My reason was that it's hard to maintain multiple accounts. And now hearing the news that Multiply will be shifting to e-commerce, I just for the best on that venture for them...

  9. Indeed this is good news for Pinoy entrepreneur to have a platform to advertise their products but I hope that Multiply and its sellers community will be so sincere at protecting as well consumers/buyers rights.

  10. This is really good news for online business owners, online clients and online shoppers since members can now trust each other because they already have proper venue for the transactions.

  11. I guess it's good that multiply is trying to recreate themselves after not taking off in the social media business.

  12. I actually tried downloading all of my multiply files into my computer. But it seemed to easy on my end since I had to save each and every file. I probably have to read through their instructions again (although I did it step-by-step). Anyhow, I also have an online shop there. But I've stopped selling accessories since I no longer have time to create new pieces. :/ Will just check our shops come December! Good luck with your new ventures. :)

  14. It's about time. It was a dying ship with so many flaws it was doomed to fail. The site wasn't very social, the admins weren't listening to customer demands, and it was simply eaten up by both Facebook and Twitter. Good to know they've changed directions like Friendster. All the best to Multiply!

  15. I felt a bit sad when Multiply decided to shut down its social networking and focus more on the e-commerce. And I need to save all of my pictures and docs from my account to my laptop before December.
