UNIQLO, Love At First Try

I first heard of UNIQLO watching a news documentary about 2 or three years ago.  Back then, I thought it was just another retail store trying to make it big in the world market. When a branch opened in Manila and friends would rave about the clothing the store sells, I became curious.  Of course, not being fond of Manila, I never really got to shop in their branches there. Fast forward to June 15, 2016 when Negros Bloggers were invited for a press tour and VIP shopping as a preview to their grand opening on the 17th of June. Well, folks...it was love at first try!

The invitation said 3:00, but I came early so I can take  a peek at what the store looks like before the rest of the crowd arrives. The press tour began at about 3:30 and right after introductions, we listened to a few short explanations by the staff about their products while going around the store. Being a plus sized person, the first question I asked was what standard of sizing they used. I was told that UNIQLO use Asian sizes (XS to XL) and that disappointed me a bit,  but the very friendly and accommodating staff told me that they do have several designs that can fit up to UK XL (20) size. I wandered around and yes, there were shirts, undergarments, pants and jeans that would indeed fit me, a UK M (US 12/14).  After trying a few tops, I knew it would just be a matter of minutes (make that seconds) before I go on a shopping frenzy.

Being the thoughtful and practical shopper that I am, I bought all colors (except white and purple) of the Women Drape Short Sleeve T-Shirt. I kept coming back to the store for 3 more days in a row, buying a navy and a pink Women Cotton Modal Long Short Sleeve T,  a black, white and navy Women Rib 3/4 Sleeve Tunic, a Men's T-shirt for my brother, a room slipper for my mom and several AIRism undergarments for my daughter and I.  I think I used up all my clothing budget for the year.

Then again, a girl can't have too many UNIQLO tops (grin)!

The UNIQLO Difference

What I love about UNIQLO is their simple designs suitable for Philippine weather, and the fact that you can use the clothes in any given occasion, using the right accessories. The tops can be used with ordinary jeans or an expensive skirt. It is that versatile! They are innovative, using utility and unique materials for their clothing. The material in their drape tees are soft, light, comfortable, silky to touch and cool to the skin. In fact this has become my office uniform at the moment.
