L'Fisher Hotel Bacolod Makes The Negros Bloggers' Christmas Dream Come True

"A dream is a wish your heart make"

Christmas 2014

About the same time last year, a fledging Negrense Blogging Society, Inc better known as the Negros Bloggers celebrated Christmas with a simple dinner and a fun Karaoke Night afterwards. Before going home, we had our group picture taken with the L'Fisher Hotel Bacolod as backdrop. Someone laughingly wished out loud for our next Christmas party to be held there. We all agreed to keep our fingers crossed, after all wishes can come true!

Globe Party, The Media, The Bloggers

This isn't the first time that the Negrense Blogging Society, Inc. got invited to an appreciation  party but this is the first time that we all had fun!  Last January 25, 2013, Globe hosted a Media and Blogger's Night at 21 Restaurant.  In attendance were media practitioners from print, television and radio and of course, the bloggers group.  You know, it never ceases to surprise me that companies, organizations, festival organizers and even politicians now look at bloggers as a "force" that can influence public opinion and even effect change.  In the past not many people read blogs, but that is no longer true now-a-days.  Bloggers are now seen as good sources of publicity, which more often than not is unsolicited and may be good or bad.  When I started blogging, this was the farthest from my mind...in fact, it never even entered my head. To this day blogging for me is just another way to express my thoughts and ideas...it is not about anything else.  In fact, during media events where bloggers are invited, I feel a little self-conscious when we get acknowledged together with mainstream media because I know that I have not earned the credentials of being a media practitioner or even a semblance of one.  At best I am a ''citizen journalist", as termed by Rappler.com.  So to my media friends, thank you for looking at us with benevolent eyes.  It will be a long time before we can hope to achieve even just half of your experience.  I am sure that to many, we are eager beavers and can be an annoying lot (winning most games and prizes...heheh), but please bear with us since this is an all too new experience for most of us; we promise to be more circumspect next year. ^_^

“Everything About Blogging: From Hobby to Money”

The Negros Bloggers in cooperation with SM City Bacolod sponsored a Blogging Seminar entitled “Everything About Blogging: From Hobby to Money” this morning at the SM Event Center.  More than 50 participants registered to listen to our 2 invited lecturers, Enrico Dee of Biyahilo.com and Lloyd Tronco of Talonggo.blogspot.com. We would like to thank SM City Bacolod through Lorena Quizan Martinez, for allowing us the use of the Event Center, Audrey for the delicious Sugarlandia barquillos and barquiron, Eduardo Mirambel Joven for the tee-shirt raffled off and most of all to Enrico and Lloyd who shared their time, talent, experience and passion for blogging pro bono.  To all of us...happy, fruitful and prosperous blogging today, tomorrow...and beyond!

And Then?.....Blog!

Okay, so this is a continuation of sorts from my last post...after doing all that, what next? The answer came two days later.  I am now participating actively in a local blogging community, the Negros Bloggers. We are a growing group of people from or in Negros who blogs about anything and everything under the sun.  They have started to organize in 2009 and I was invited by a friend through Facebook to attend a blogging seminar they organized in October 2010.  It was serendipitous I think, because I met some really sincere people who are so into blogging, I felt this was my chance to expand my blogging into something more than just an on and off hobby.  And so, after connecting with more experienced bloggers...here I am now...an active member of Negros Bloggers. So far I have attended 3 enjoyable meetings, the last one was downright hilarious...this is a group with a very good sense of humor but definitely serious about blogging and in fact we have several activities lined up for the next 4 months. You can see how serious we were in between the laughter...

We will have a Blogging Seminar scheduled on September 17, 2010 from 10 AM to 12 noon at the SM City Bacolod Event Center and we will be host to the Visayan Blogging Awards in November.  For further details regarding the above mentioned activities please check our Facebook page.

Today I Learned ..... How To Blog and Earn From It

I decided to attend a Blogging talk organized by the Negros Bloggers at SM Bacolod today.  I was looking forward to learning more about blogging and I was not disappointed.  The talks were simple but very practical.  I also learned that I did not need a DSLR to get great pictures and that I could actually make some money from blogging...well, I knew that, but I did not know how. In fact, my cluelessness and impulsiveness in the past only made me lose money which I could ill afford. It is still not very clear to me but now, I know who to ask and how to ask for help in making my blog earn for me. Of course, blogging is not going to be a career for me anytime soon...but if I get paid for doing something I enjoy...wouldn't that be like having your cake and eating it all at the same time?
