A list of Firsts

In our lifetime, there are many firsts...first teeth, first food, first haircut, first steps, first words and more...all of these are usually documented in pictures or in a diary or album. But there are also many firsts that are just kept stored in our memory banks...the ones that just happen because it's part of living and growing. Things like.... first crush, first love, first kiss, first date, first heartache etc...

For today, I decided to write down as many firsts of this category (rated GP...hahaha) that I can remember before memory loss sets in...

1. first crush - at age 10, I developed a crush on a 16 year old 3rd cousin who I thought looked like Paul MaCartney. I followed him around the whole summer...my first serious stalking activity ;)

2. first dance - also at age 10...I went along with my Mom to the Seniors' graduation party of the high school where she was teaching. Physically I looked about 13 or 14 having developed earlier than girls' my age. There was this cute boy from a Catholic school in Bacolod who asked me to dance...I was trying to tell him that I wasn't allowed yet, but he couldn't hear me with the loud band music playing and he just stood there in front of me. I was an embarassed 10 year old, so I stood up and danced with him. Someone told my Mom and the next day, I was called out into the garden for a talk about being too young for dancing with boys (what i did not know was that it will take another 6 years before I was allowed to do so...the Prom I attended at 14 didn't count as I had my cousin as a date...duh...)

3. first hollywood love - Robert de Niro...he was really hot in Falling in Love

4. first trip abroad - Hongkong in 1994...I developed a fever the next day after our city tour. I was dehydrated because the f*!@k#*g tour guide would not stop until everything was finished! I had to stay in the hotel (Holiday Inn - Golden Mile)the whole afternoon and evening so that I could join the other activities the next day.

5. first love letter - the summer I turned 14, a 12 year old friend of my brother started sending me cards...I hated it and tore all of them up. He is now a minor celebrity and I should have realized then the market value of those cards...darn!

There are still some others but I'm too tired to think and it's late (almost midnight) and I have to work tomorrow....
